CFA Society awards BPI AMTC’s fund for second time
Allen Martin O. Dee, Head of Investment Solutions at BPI Asset Management and Trust Corporation, receives the trophy from Chartered Financial Analyst Society of the Philippines
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of the Philippines has recognized the BPI Global Equity Fund-of-Funds as the Best Managed Fund of the Year under the global equity fund category for the second consecutive year.
Managed by the BPI Asset Management and Trust Corporation (BPI AMTC), a subsidiary of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), the fund proved to be the most consistent in delivering the best investment performance.
“Innovation in product offering underpins our leadership in the global fund management space,” said Sheila Marie Tan, President of BPI AMTC. “Take our newly-launched BPI US Dollar Income Feeder Fund. Just a month from its inception, it has overtaken half of the incumbent funds in global balanced and equity category in terms of AUM, or assets under management. This market response is a testament to our ability to deliver relevant products to the Filipino investor.”
The best funds are selected by the CFA Society Philippines based on the highest risk-adjusted returns over a five-year period among a total of 82 funds from 16 investment houses and trust institutions combined that have joined the search.
The Best Managed Funds of the Year is an initiative aimed at educating retail investors by introducing them to risk-adjusted fund performance. With more enlightened investors, it is expected that fund managers would exercise more prudence and employ higher standards of ethics and investment excellence in managing investable funds by putting the interests of their investors above their own.
BPI AMTC has more than US$545 million in AUM invested in global securities and investment funds. With this size, it dominates the global funds category with a market share of 70% based on available published UITF data.
The BPI Global Equity Fund-of-Funds returned 23.87% in 2017. The fund is conveniently available in all BPI and BPI Family Savings Bank branches for a minimum initial investment of US$500. It is also accessible through BPI Online Banking and the BPI Mobile App.
